Stainless

  • This Cuisinart 12-piece set has been worth it for the steamer pot alone! The steamer pot handle is stainless steel so the heat from boiling won't melt any plastic. It is extremely easy to clean and wide enough to reheat leftovers in bowls.

  • A pot like this All-Clad Sauce Pan comes in handy for boiling pasta or making enchilada sauce. I definitely have my eye on the entire All-Clad 10-piece set, but it is pretty expensive and I'll wait until I have more kitchen space to upgrade my current set.

Cast Iron

  • This Premium 12.5" Cast Iron Skillet took a little getting used to, but I am so happy I finally have made the transition from my usual nonstick to this in the mornings!

  • This Lodge 8" Cast Iron Skillet is probably the best bang for your buck if you are just starting out with your transition to a cast iron skillet.

  • This 10.25" Cast Iron Skillet is useful for skillet meals and/or oven souffle's, casseroles, or skillet pies.

  • This cast iron grill pan is great for veggie and meat burger patties, salmon cakes, grilling fish, and even grilling vegetables if you're looking for that charred taste, which I love!

Non Stick

  • I've tried a few nonstick woks and this ScanPan CTX one is my favorite so far, with no burning or sticking. It is easy to clean with a soft sponge and I barely need any oil.

For more information about PFOAs and PTFE, check out this recent article on the Misen site.

  • These are the ScanPan 8" and 10.25" skillets I treated myself to this year for Dhan Teras (Diwali). The pans are made of Stratanium (made in Denmark) and the salesperson told me you can essentially use any utensils with it without scratching, but I still use silicone. The main thing to be careful of is the type of cooking oil. If you use a low smoke point oil and it burns, it can ruin the pan.

  • I love this large ScanPan 12.75" skillet because I can fit an entire one-pan meal and then move a portion to one of my smaller skillets (for the kids) before I add more spice (for us). Remember to avoid cooking sprays, metal utensils, and high heat cooking when cooking with nonstick.

  • I have been using the Futura Dosa Tawa for dosa, pancakes, lavash wraps, heating tortillas and I love it. It has basically replaced all of my other flat pans. I cannot stress the importance of waiting for any nonstick pans to cool down completely before washing them by hand.

  • No matter what cookware you have, you need to be protecting your pots and pans with dividers to avoid scratching. These All-Clad Dividers come in three sizes to help protect even the largest pots & pans.

Daily Tools

  • I have tried alternative grinders, but I keep coming back to the good old Revel Dry/Wet Grinder. I use these for grinding sprouted oats (for quicker cooking), nuts, seeds, as well as spices, garlic, ginger, etc.

  • I use a steamer pot DAILY, multiple times. I use it to steam food and reheat food. When reheating meat, I like to add a little bone broth to keep meat from drying out when steaming. It helps to have a large rimmed bowl, so the steam can get easily to the food. Also, a good pair of tongs to lift hot bowls out of the steamer pot (recommended here as well).

  • I prefer these Oxo Stainless Steel Tongs because the stainless steel edge allows me to grab whatever hot bowl I've used to reheat food in my steamer pot. They are 12" - long enough to avoid my hands from touching the hot stainless steel steamer pot.

  • I rely on my Cosori Electric Kettle numerous times per day. Most importantly, it helps me get the kids breakfast and lunch ready so much quicker than if I had to wait for water to boil on the stovetop.

Spatulas

  • The slatted spoons and spatulas in this Cuisinart Crock have come in handy on numerous occasions.

  • I have given this GIR silicone spatula set as a gift to so many people. These spatulas are sturdy, heat-resistant and come in many sizes, including a spoon set and ladle.

  • This sturdy OXO Nylon Lasagna Turner is perfect for breaking up crumbles, whether it be veggie crumbles or meat crumbles, its great for mixing.

  • I have these Tovolo Flex-Core Wood Handled Spatulas. I use them all the time and love that I can rest the handle on the pan without it getting hot. The silcone is not too hard and won't damage your nonstick pans.

Chopping Board & Knives

  • I received this Henckels 2-Piece Set for the holidays and love both knives and use them daily. I do not put these in the dishwasher, but they are very easy to wash, so it's never been a problem.

  • I've had these Victorinox knives for over eight years and they are so good (and sharp, so watch out!). These are great for those veggies that can't quite be chopped with the chef's knife (tomoaoes, small berries, etc.), I recommend designating a specific color for bread and using that one to cut bagels, muffins, bread with that knife, so it doesn't dull.

  • I use these Kid Chef Knives in my KID.SMART.FOOD. cooking classes. The kids love it when they get a chance to chop anything. You do have to use a sawing motion when cutting with these. It is best for fruits.

  • I use these Wooden Bamboo Chopping Boards in my KID.SMART.FOOD. cooking classes and the various sizes have come in very handy.

  • This OXO Avocado Slicer has likely saved my thumb a gazillion times. I love that it also has a built it pit remover so I can easily get the pit out without injury.

Bakeware

  • I use this Trudeau Maison Silicone Mini Muffin Pan for EVERYTHING! From sweet treats to savory handvo muffins, this pan allows for the cutest of treats! I use a coconut oil spray or avocado oil spray and what I love the most is that you can push the baked goods up and out without having to wrestle them out.

  • This Wilton Bar Pan is perfect for making stacked goodies for packaging. For example, I make 4 or 5 batches of various desserts and package them up for Diwali treats for my kids' teachers every year.

  • I love having various size cake pans for baking. This Wilton cake pan set includes 6, 8, 10 and 12 inch pans. If you like making double layer cakes, I suggest getting 2 sets of these!

  • I always line these Airbake Cookie Sheets with unbleached parchment paper, so it doesn't really matter that they are nonstick, but either way, I like how sturdy they are - some metal bends and causes food to "pop" off when you take it out of the oven, so these are nice and sturdy and have never done that. I also like the raised edge to allow for turning.

  • I use Calphalon jelly roll pans for roasting vegetables almost on a daily basis. I line them with this unbleaced parchment paper.

  • I use this cooling rack for roasting as well. I can skewer chicken and veggie kebabs and put them in the oven on these, with a pan underneath and it comes great!

  • Our Silpat Baking Mats have lasted over ten years. I have three of them and have my eye on these square and round ones as well. While these are on the expensive side, they save us from using SO MUCH parchment paper that they more than pay for themselves. And they are so easy to clean.

  • I use these silicone baking cups often, not just for baking, but for separating food in my kids' lunch containers. I'll be perfectly honest, I have about 3 sets of these because I hate washing muffin pans when they get all sticky between batches of baking.

  • I LOVE these OXO Good Grips Oven Mitts (pictured above), but can no longer find them. This is OXO's new version of their silicone oven mitts.

  • I get this isn't technically "bakeware," but I use this often for making batter & dough! My KitchenAid Mixer gets pretty solid use during the holiday season. I use the dough and whisk attachments the most, but would love to try the homemade pasta attachment!

  • We use our Cuisinart food processor for plenty of homemade muffin, brownie, cookie batters. This one comes with many blades, so you can shred and slice as well.

Plant Based Milk Supplies

  • I have been using the Almond Cow for nearly a year now and love being able to make plant based milk easily and without the need for any nut milk bags! I typically rotate between cashew, almond, hemp, oat and even pecan milk. You can get $15 off your order with the code PARUL15.

  • I was using a glass bottle with a cork lid, but it really started getting nasty. I decided I needed glass jars with plastic lids so I could shake up my plant-based milk without the lid getting gross. These Ball glass mason jars did the trick!

  • It seems silly, but you will want a silicone bottle brush to clean out the canister and the milk bottles, every edge and rim. I got mine from Sur La Table, but this Innobaby one looks very similar.

  • If I am making hemp milk, I just use my Vitamix blender, blend 1 cup of hemp seeds with 4 cups of water, 2 dates and a dash of salt. I do not strain my hemp milk-I want all the protein and omega's!

Instant Pot & Accessories

  • This 6 quart Instant Pot is the perfect size for my family of four (and sometimes 6, when mom & dad are with us).

  • Having a trivet with silicone handles makes it much easier to lift smaller pots out of the IP without spillage or burning yourself!

  • These stackable IP insert pans make it easy to make multiple items at a time, such as rice + dal. These come with silicone handle grippers to make it easier to lift the trays out of the Instant Pot.

  • Mine egg mold was a gift, so they were single layer, but these egg molds come with the trivet with handles, so it makes it easy to place the egg mold inside the Instant Pot without spilling the egg mixture and also to remove the egg mold once cooked.
